After the summer hiatus, we’re back and are really looking forward to our next event. We have had a busy summer with lots of travelling and we are keen to include many of our interesting new contacts into our future events.
Having spent time in London this year, we were intrigued to see how that market has been addressing the many issues around Cyber. Cyber cover is one of the most hotly debated lines of business and despite having been written in various forms for many years now, it remains a significant challenge for insurers, reinsurers and brokers. The London market has had some success in addressing these challenges and we are keen to learn more about how this very complex risk is assessed and handled by our colleagues in London. As a result, the theme for our next event is “Cyber Insurance in the London Market”.
We are honoured to have Laura Johnson and Adam Mitchell from Chaucer along with John Byrne from Cyber Plus Solutions as our speakers.
Laura and Adam will team up to discuss the specifics of writing Cyber. They will tell us about their lessons learned and some key challenges still to be overcome. John will give us an insurtech's perspective on cyber risk specifically for SME's, describing the current environment, some current approaches to underwriting and selling SME cyber, and his views on the potential risks and rewards available to the market.
As an experienced cyber security and technology specialist, Laura leads the Chaucer cyber insurance practice. She joined Chaucer in 2012 and from 2014 was Head of Technology Services. Prior to this, Laura was a key contributor to the success of a leading global cloud provider and has provided consultancy to a number of different financial institutions.
Adam has 15 years London Market experience, joining Chaucer in 2013. With a background in exposure management, he now works closely with Laura, developing the cyber insurance practice and focusing on methods to measure cyber exposure. He is heavily involved in leading Chaucer’s drive for innovation and more recently, Adam has been mentoring insurtech start-ups through the Lloyd’s Lab as well as speaking at insurtech conferences.
John has extensive insurance industry experience including as a financial lines underwriter with AIG and was a partner in an insurance consultancy firm. In 2010, John co-founded The Channel Syndicate at Lloyd’s, in partnership with SCOR, were he was COO and CRO until 2015. His other insurance roles have included International Auditor, Regional Underwriting Manager and Chief Underwriting Officer. John is an FCCA and a co-founder of the insurtech, Cyber Plus Solutions.
This event is sponsored by Chaucer. The meet-up will be on Wednesday 18th September at Dogpatch Labs in CHQ, Dublin, starting at 6:00pm. If you would like to attend, please register using the button below.
